Mala’s June 2019 Hot Reads

A slew of DNFs put a major dent in my reading round-up for June and I’m kind of bummed out about only finishing seven books. All is not lost, though! While all seven were enjoyable, two of them were so immensely satisfying that it kind of makes up for my slump — Olivia Dade’s utterly charming and warmhearted Teach Me, pairing a cinnamon roll hero and a self-protective ice queen heroine, and Beverly Jenkins’ Rebel, which features sexy happenings in a gazebo and racists getting their asses kicked! Funnily enough, both novels star fiercely dedicated schoolteachers! I guess teachers were totally my jam last month. It’ll be interesting to see what grabs me in July. I finished a book on day one, so let’s hope that sets the tone for the weeks to come!

The Reading Rundown:
Fall by Kristen Callihan (contemporary romance)
Teach Me by Olivia Dade (contemporary romance)
Rebel by Beverly Jenkins (historical romance)
There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon (young adult contemporary romance)
The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai (out 8/6, contemporary romance)
A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas (historical mystery, Sherlock Holmes retelling)

Backlist adventures: I did a read-along of the Sunfire Romance Caroline, by Willo Davis Roberts, with some friends. I have regrets. Deep, deep regrets.

Currently reading: Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse.

On the TBR/wishlist:
Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews
A House of Rage and Sorrow by Sangu Mandanna
