Is it really May? I could swear we’re still in March or April. Mapril? I’m glad I’m tracking books, because otherwise I would have no idea how much time has passed. Last month, I was lucky to get access to advance copies of some highly anticipated summer releases—-and they couldn’t have come at a better time. Just when I desperately needed to be transported into the pages of remarkable reads.
Alexis Daria’s You Had Me At Hola enveloped me in warmth and passion and humor and emotional intimacy after several DNFs in a row. Plus, it involves a soap actress filming a telenovela—-right up my alley! Jasmine and Ashton reminded me of why I love romance novels, and I hope the book makes a HUGE splash when it drops in July. I also devoured Angelina M. Lopez’s sophomore offering, Hate Crush, which features a second-chance romance between former teen sweethearts…while they play out a fake relationship! And it’s set at a winery and vineyard. You might get thirsty while reading…in more ways than one!
The Reading Rundown
You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria (out 7/7, contemporary romance)
Surrender to Sin by Nicola Davidson (erotic historical romance)
Tempting Her Neighbor by Laura Jardine (erotic contemporary romance)
I Think I Might Love You by Christina C. Jones (contemporary romance)
Hate Crush by Angelina M. Lopez (out 6/29, contemporary romance)
Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan (contemporary romance)
Backlist adventures: I reread some highly problematic but highly addictive faves, The Wind Dancer and Storm Winds, by Iris Johansen. Then I dove into the reissue of Reawakening, a zombie apocalypse menáge by Charlotte Stein. No one does deeply emotional yet adorkable yet steamy erotic romance quite like Charlotte Stein. She’s an absolute master at making geeky people incredibly sexy–which gives hope to this geeky gal right here!
Currently reading: An ARC of The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon, which comes out on June 9th. I love it so much. It’s set in the tech world, has a swoonworthy hero and an awesome heroine…and will remind you not to settle for anyone who can’t remember what your favorite granola bar is.
On the TBR/wish list:
The Damned by Renée Ahdieh
When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole
Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas
